Top Flooring Tips Before You Renovate

1. Always renovate from the FLOOR UP

   Flooring should be the first product you choose as its one of the largest surface areas. Choose your flooring first but lay it last so it’s protected from any other renovations within your home.

2. Take advantage of viewing carpet and vinyl samples in different spaces in your home

   A carpet or vinyl sample will look different in your home as opposed to a showroom.

3. Don’t be afraid to choose a slightly darker carpet colour

   Carpets generally appear around 20% lighter on the floor when installed compared to a small sample.

4. Consider the effect colours have on your space

   Darker colours absorb light and can make a room appear smaller, lighter colours reflect the light and create a sense of spaciousness.

5. Learn the characteristics of the different fibre types

   Solution Dyed Nylon (SDN), Wool, Triexta, Polyester & Polyprop. SDN is currently the most popular because of its fade and stain resistance qualities.

6. When planning your interior colour scheme stay to the same colour tones on your flooring, wall colour & window treatments.

7. Never underestimate the importance of underlay

   Carpet underlay absorbs all the wear and tear increasing the longevity of your carpet.
